Arts Administration & engagement
Arts turn-around consultant and grant writer. I enjoyed my year as the Director of Kutztown Presents at Kutztown University, revitalizing this concert series. Previously, after launching the Re-Sounding History Series through Syracuse University, I worked with the Cornell Concert Series for nearly a decade, doing everything from strategic planning to hands-on tasks. I really get into my work and the dedication shows - I have increased audience numbers by 25% and educational engagement participation by 50% over the last five years, and won $130k+ in grants over the last 10 years. My focus on community engagement has seen 3000+ students and community members interacting with guest artists.
Academic teaching & publication
I am an ethnomusicologist who studies how people use music to make meaning. I have taught a variety of courses in various capacities at 5 different universities. Over my career, I have taught over 500 students, served on theses committees, and become an invited speaker and manuscript reviewer. I love teaching and get great reviews from students and colleagues. My teaching draws from my research, which has so far resulted in 3 books, 20+ peer reviewed articles/book chapters, and more than 30 professional presentations. While it’s a bit less academic and featured more fully on the music page on this website, I also teach music lessons and at music festivals.
